Ancient Egypt In Yorkshire: Augmented Reality For a Promotional Poster

In 2017 a major exhibition "Ancient Egypt In Yorkshire" opened across three museums in Barnsley gathering, together for the first time the Egyptian artefacts loaned from several Yorkshire museums.

MiMuM Productions was commissioned to create the Augmented Reality content of a promotional poster for the exhibition. When viewed through an iPad or smartphone several of the artefacts 'came alive' as 3D models hovering in front of the poster. They were created using photogrammetry and as such were indistinguishable from the photographs of the real objects. In fact due to lighting problems of the real sarcophagus an image of the 3D model created by MiMuM using earlier photogrammetry was used instead of a photograph of the real thing and the difference was not noticeable.
